Survivorship
The AYA Cancer Network Aotearoa (AYA) works to improve cancer care for adolescents and young adults across Aotearoa. Bringing together young people, whānau, health professionals and community organisations, the Network helps strengthen the connections between services and shape care around young people’s needs
—during treatment and beyond. Its Rangatahi Advisory Group (pictured in the waka) brings the perspectives
of young cancer survivors directly into this mahi, helping inform priorities and improvements.
We are working with AYA towards better survivorship
care, recognising that the challenges of cancer don’t
end when treatment does. Our funding has supported early research and development, including a review of international survivorship programmes and conversations with people working in this area in Aotearoa and overseas.
This relationship reflects our belief that better systems begin with listening to young people and bringing people together to respond.
